Painter Robert Hamilton (1919-2004) taught painting at the Rhode Island School of Design for 34 years before moving to Port Clyde. His paintings are based in jazz-like improvisation – witty, surprising, colorful, eccentric. Imbedded in their playful surfaces are themes of personal history and commentaries on the history of art.
